inexactitude: (You know I've been thinking about this)

☮ | 001 | Video

[Olive situates the camera, sitting at her desk and peering over her shoulder at her room. There are some clothes visible on the floor peeking out from behind her bed, and on the floor is what looks like a bunch of little red pieces of cloth. It's hard to tell that they're A's.

Olive smiles, and scratches the back of her neck.]
So this is kind of weird. I keep thinking my parents are about to walk in. But no, it's just a crazy, kind of creepy boat hallway outside. So. No worry about that, I guess.

[Pause. She runs a hand through her hair uncomfortably, then laughs. It's kind of forced and lame.]...Well this is awkward. So, uh, hi, my name's Olive. Penderghast, for what it's worth. Aaaand I'm a new warden here. On your boat. Of the Damned, or whatever you guys call it. You'd think a giant ship sailing through outer space would have a title a little more, I don't know...flamboyant? Than 'The Barge.'

Right, so, questions. This thing does filters, right? Like friends lists on livejournal and facebook and blogspot? Oh and private stuff, it does that too, right? Hang on, I think I found--

[Private]

[Yes, she found the function, awesome. She waves at the camera. Pauses. Scratches the back of her head. Makes a face and bobs her head to an absent beat.] I got a pocket, got a pocket full of sunshine... Oh my God, that song is going to be in my head for the rest of - I'm talking to myself. That's a good sign.

[Public again!]

Never mind! Got it. Totally. Under. Control. [She even makes a smooth hand gesture.]

Next question! These warden Item...things. Are they usually, uh. Weird and varied objects? [Muttered:] Or am I just reeeaaally lucky.

Man, this is just like blogging. Except, people almost never reply to my blog - but, you know. Don't let holding to traditional norms stop you.

[And added some time later:] One more question, and points if you can tell me this, but who knows what a lemon squeeze and/or melon grab is?

[So Merlin understood about 30% of this post. Whatever, have politely smiling medieval kid all up ins.]

Items are usually things that are important to the person whose Item it is. As far as I know. And - welcome to the Barge, Olive.
requiresssacrifice: (Rex - DUBBLE BUBBLE D:)

[Aaaahhhh wtf why. Enjoy some horrified, confused staring, until he realizes the video's on and turns off his feed in a panicky sort of way.]
worstsongever: (Yeah still fantasizing.)

[personal profile] worstsongever 2011-06-08 07:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh. [She does not look too happy about that explanation. Maybe she should go home and smack Brandon with her new item.] Okay, that's...cool. Uh, thanks, person-who-has-not-introduced-himself. [Smile? Smile!]
worstsongever: (Woman said what.)

[personal profile] worstsongever 2011-06-08 07:10 pm (UTC)(link)
[...Why so creepy, Rex. Olive is blinking and looking around. Whaaaat was he staring at.]

Uhh....hi? Hello? Do these things glitch, or what?

[identity profile] takeyouapart.livejournal.com 2011-06-08 07:12 pm (UTC)(link)
[If it helps, if he knew what your item was he'd kill himself. :c]

Oh! Sorry - it's Merlin. [And a wave!] Hello.

[identity profile] 19centconstable.livejournal.com 2011-06-08 07:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I like "Boat of the Damned": it has an excellent ring. But I'm not sure it would do much in the way of inspiring behaviors. For either inmates or wardens. Perhaps "Boat of the Un-Damned"? "Boat of the Very Near To Being Damned, But Let's Not Be Hasty"?
requiresssacrifice: (Rex - What the shit is this.)

[personal profile] requiresssacrifice 2011-06-08 07:18 pm (UTC)(link)
[Because he's too COOL for social skills. With a sigh he turns the feed back on.]

No, it's not a-- It's nothing. I just. [Uhhh. Think quick.] Can't believe you're asking what a... lemon squeeze... is. Everybody knows what it is. [Except for Rex.]

[....Note to slf: Do not share with Merlin.]

Seriously? Wait, are you from California too?
worstsongever: (I shouldn't have said that :x)

[personal profile] worstsongever 2011-06-08 07:23 pm (UTC)(link)
[:| She blows out her cheeks to keep from saying something possibly rude or stupid, and lifts her hands, shrugging.]

Well
, then, maybe you'd like to share with the class. [AND OLIVE they must have missed that day at creepo school. :c]

[identity profile] takeyouapart.livejournal.com 2011-06-08 07:25 pm (UTC)(link)
California? Er. No. I'm from Camelo - [Hm.] - Albi - [No, wait.] - England. I'm from England.

[personal profile] worstsongever 2011-06-08 07:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I like that. Who needs to be concise? What about Boat of the Once, Yet Soon to be Un-Damned? Or Boat Where There Is No Judging?
worstsongever: (Yeah still fantasizing.)

[personal profile] worstsongever 2011-06-08 07:26 pm (UTC)(link)
And your parents named you Merlin.
requiresssacrifice: (Rex - side)

[personal profile] requiresssacrifice 2011-06-08 07:29 pm (UTC)(link)
...

[CRAP.]

It's...

A lemonade-flavored alcoholic drink. With. [Hm.] Gin. They were really big when I was in college. All the rage at the... [Losing steam there with your lie, buddy.] frat parties.

[identity profile] takeyouapart.livejournal.com 2011-06-08 07:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Nothing wrong with being called Merlin. At least I'm not named after a -- fruit.

[Pause. Try to be classy, Merlin.]

Sorry. Olive's a lovely name.

[personal profile] worstsongever 2011-06-08 07:32 pm (UTC)(link)
[Staaaaare. To possibly embarrass stranger, or not to.] Really. [She does not buy it at all. But. :|]

Iiii guess you learn something new everyday. Or. Whatever.
requiresssacrifice: (Rex - yeah right)

[personal profile] requiresssacrifice 2011-06-08 07:35 pm (UTC)(link)
[HE'S ALREADY EMBARRASSED.]

Yeah. So. [Ahahaha enjoy some fake, tooootally casual laughter.] Now you know. [So awkward.] Welcome to the Barge, try not to get killed, etcetera.

[identity profile] 19centconstable.livejournal.com 2011-06-08 07:48 pm (UTC)(link)
There is a bit of judging though. We certainly can't go around all: "Well, he or she murdered his or her warden horribly, but we'll leave them be because we don't like to judge"...

Naming a boat is trickier than I'd have thought.
ifightfor: (tracert)

[personal profile] ifightfor 2011-06-08 08:04 pm (UTC)(link)
[Rinzler has a total lack of shame. And vocabulary words.]

Term "lemon squeeze" unrecognized. Define "lemon squeeze".
worstsongever: (It's okay you can tell me)

[personal profile] worstsongever 2011-06-08 08:16 pm (UTC)(link)
[She purses her lips.] Touche.

I mean, uh, thanks - but seriously, don't people hassle you? I mean, I think it's kind of awesome, 'hey, I'm Merlin, how's it going.' But the wider world tends not to know much about medieval literature.
worstsongever: (Holy shit what just happened.)

[personal profile] worstsongever 2011-06-08 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
[LIFE IS HARD MAN.]

Woah, wait, gin to death? Can we talk about the death part?
worstsongever: (Woman said what.)

[personal profile] worstsongever 2011-06-08 08:19 pm (UTC)(link)
So long as we avoid classics like 'Titanic,' I think we're golden.

...Now, about this horrible murdering thing.
worstsongever: (I shouldn't have said that :x)

[personal profile] worstsongever 2011-06-08 08:19 pm (UTC)(link)
[Hey that's what she was asking. :c]

That's what I want to know.
requiresssacrifice: (Rex - hmmm)

[personal profile] requiresssacrifice 2011-06-08 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
[OH GOOD, DEATH. A less awkward topic than lemon squeezes. Now Rex sounds more certain of himself.]

It isn't permanent-- once your vital signs cease, your body begins to repair itself and you're up again within hours.

Well, not 'up', exactly... There's a prolonged period of dizziness, nausea, fatigue, phantom pains... But it's life. Somewhat.

I thought you wardens were informed of this when you made your deals.

[identity profile] 19centconstable.livejournal.com 2011-06-08 08:38 pm (UTC)(link)
What's wrong with Titanic?

Yes. There has been a bit more horrible murdering than I'm comfortable with. And I'm a police constable.
worstsongever: (Wow that sounds ridic)

[personal profile] worstsongever 2011-06-08 08:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I got an infomercial pitch about helping people. Why - how is death a limbo state?

...And how likely is it, scale of one to ten, that I'll get to see what 'life, somewhat' is?
