inexactitude: (You know I've been thinking about this)

[Olive situates the camera, sitting at her desk and peering over her shoulder at her room. There are some clothes visible on the floor peeking out from behind her bed, and on the floor is what looks like a bunch of little red pieces of cloth. It's hard to tell that they're A's.

Olive smiles, and scratches the back of her neck.]
So this is kind of weird. I keep thinking my parents are about to walk in. But no, it's just a crazy, kind of creepy boat hallway outside. So. No worry about that, I guess.

[Pause. She runs a hand through her hair uncomfortably, then laughs. It's kind of forced and lame.]...Well this is awkward. So, uh, hi, my name's Olive. Penderghast, for what it's worth. Aaaand I'm a new warden here. On your boat. Of the Damned, or whatever you guys call it. You'd think a giant ship sailing through outer space would have a title a little more, I don't know...flamboyant? Than 'The Barge.'

Right, so, questions. This thing does filters, right? Like friends lists on livejournal and facebook and blogspot? Oh and private stuff, it does that too, right? Hang on, I think I found--

[Private]

[Yes, she found the function, awesome. She waves at the camera. Pauses. Scratches the back of her head. Makes a face and bobs her head to an absent beat.] I got a pocket, got a pocket full of sunshine... Oh my God, that song is going to be in my head for the rest of - I'm talking to myself. That's a good sign.

[Public again!]

Never mind! Got it. Totally. Under. Control. [She even makes a smooth hand gesture.]

Next question! These warden Item...things. Are they usually, uh. Weird and varied objects? [Muttered:] Or am I just reeeaaally lucky.

Man, this is just like blogging. Except, people almost never reply to my blog - but, you know. Don't let holding to traditional norms stop you.

[And added some time later:] One more question, and points if you can tell me this, but who knows what a lemon squeeze and/or melon grab is?

Okay. See, I'm learning lots here. What kin of magic? Is it different for everyone? Everyone who's born with it, anyway.

[identity profile] sharpememory.livejournal.com 2011-06-13 06:43 am (UTC)(link)
It varies. There are five broad types. Luck, memory, emotion, death and transformation. Although I'm pretty sure there are literally no transformation workers now.

[identity profile] sharpememory.livejournal.com 2011-06-18 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
Don't know, really. They just don't get born often. There's been, what, one in the last century?
worstsongever: (heretofore known as Superslut)

[personal profile] worstsongever 2011-06-18 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
I will take your word for that. So what o those types do? I mean, obviously it has something to do with luck and death and all, but...how?

[identity profile] sharpememory.livejournal.com 2011-06-18 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
Well, a luck worker, like me, could give you bad luck or good luck. It can get pretty extreme. I mean, lucky enough to win the lotto or unlucky enough to get hit by a car.

[personal profile] worstsongever 2011-06-18 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
...That sounds pretty dangerous. Tell me you had an Uncle Ben around to give you the responsibility line.

[identity profile] sharpememory.livejournal.com 2011-06-18 05:34 am (UTC)(link)
I don't have an Uncle Ben. I'm not entirely sure what that is.
worstsongever: (lol what)

[personal profile] worstsongever 2011-06-18 05:37 am (UTC)(link)
What, seriously? It's like, iconic. 'With great power, comes great responsibility?' That doesn't ring any bells?

[identity profile] sharpememory.livejournal.com 2011-06-18 05:50 am (UTC)(link)
Never heard of it. I'm more of a fan of "With great power, comes great power." The responsibility thing isn't a factor.
worstsongever: (Wow that sounds ridic)

[personal profile] worstsongever 2011-06-18 01:47 pm (UTC)(link)
...I'm gonna make a guess, and I hope you don't get offended, but. Inmate, right?

[identity profile] sharpememory.livejournal.com 2011-06-19 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, inmate. You're an inmate too, right?
worstsongever: (Do you actually know people like this)

[personal profile] worstsongever 2011-06-19 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
[She is pooondering lying, but.] Nnnope. Warden.
worstsongever: (lol what)

[personal profile] worstsongever 2011-06-20 06:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Pretty sure, yeah.

[identity profile] sharpememory.livejournal.com 2011-06-21 08:16 am (UTC)(link)
Damn. Well, at least you should have a pretty good time here.
worstsongever: (lie explosion is go)

[personal profile] worstsongever 2011-06-21 04:24 pm (UTC)(link)
You are officially the first person to tell me that. Where do the good times come from?

[identity profile] sharpememory.livejournal.com 2011-06-22 11:25 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think I'm the first person. You'll find out, anyway.
worstsongever: (Oh come on)

[personal profile] worstsongever 2011-06-22 01:23 pm (UTC)(link)
See, now you sound cryptic again.
worstsongever: (heh.)

[personal profile] worstsongever 2011-06-25 05:05 pm (UTC)(link)
It's not part of your magic, is it?
worstsongever: (lol what)

[personal profile] worstsongever 2011-06-27 06:03 am (UTC)(link)
That's almost comforting.
